The School of Natural Sciences, Sungkyunkwan University, has been creating and will continue to create a partnership with Samsung co. setting a goal to become a top 100 university in world-wide basic sciences.

Sungkyunkwan University, founded 608 years ago, maintains a harmony between traditions and advanced science and technology. Additionally, in recent evaluations for the development of domestic universities conducted by the Korean government, Sungkyunkwan University came first place for the last five years. Recent persistent financial support by the Samsung foundation has accelerated and will continue to accelerate the development of Sungkyunkwan University. These efforts have made it possible to reach the top 100 distinguished world-wide universities.

The School of Natural Sciences, Sungkyunkwan University, has led in the development of domestic schools of natural science and basic sciences and technologies. This is supported by the fact that all departments of The School of Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biological Sciences) were selected in the 2nd BK21 program supported by the Ministry of Education in 2006. The School of Natural Sciences prepared a new admission criterion called Jang Yeong-Sil in 2007, where a scholarship is offered to fully support tuition. In this system, revolutionary and creative programs are designed to educate gifted scientific students and to produce distinguished scientists in basic sciences. Note that this type of education program is offered for the first time in domestic universities. The School of Natural Sciences, Sungkyunkwan university, is a unique school where every department has the 2nd BK21 program. This makes it possible to fully support tuition for all graduate students in the School of Natural Sciences.

In the 21st century, science and technology will lead the development of the national economy and society. Korean basic sciences will need world-wide competitiveness.

If you wish to aim high and to be a world-wide scientist, the School of Natural Sciences, Sungkyunkwan University, will help you become competent scientists by providing with plentiful resources such as distinguished faculties, educational programs, and financial support.
